Can we live on another planet and still be blessed?
With people talking about living on Mars and the moon, it’s a fair question: the Bible talks about earth, so what happens if we live somewhere else? Is God there too?
Yes. God created all of space, not just the earth: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). He is present everywhere: “If I ascend to the heavens, You are there” (Psalm 139:8). Salvation isn’t about where you live; it’s about trusting Jesus. A believer on Mars would be just as saved, just as loved and just as able to pray as anyone on earth. God told humanity to fill the earth and steward creation (Genesis 1:28), and exploring His universe can be part of that.

Jonah tried to run as far as he could
When God told Jonah to go to Nineveh, he ran the opposite direction, booking a ship to Tarshish, the farthest place he knew. But God was in the storm, in the sea, and even in the belly of the fish, where Jonah prayed and was heard (Jonah 1–2). There is nowhere, on earth or beyond it, too far for God.
God is not limited to earth
The heavens are His creation and declare His glory (Psalm 19:1). He calls every star by name (Psalm 147:4). Heaven, where God dwells, is not a place in outer space; it is His presence, which no rocket can reach and no distance can escape.
What matters wherever you live
Knowing Jesus, loving God and people, and living faithfully. Those don’t depend on gravity or zip code.
What the Bible says
- 01
- 02
Nowhere beyond Him.
“Where can I go to escape Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle by the farthest sea, even there Your hand will guide me; Your right hand will hold me fast.”
Psalm 139:7–10 - 03
- 04
All things created through Him.
“For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”
Colossians 1:16–17 - 05
What is man?
“When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place— what is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?”
Psalm 8:3–4 - 06
Neither height nor depth.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38–39
Scripture from the Berean Standard Bible.
Tonight, look up at the sky and read Psalm 8. Thank God that the One who made all of it knows your name.
Common questions
Are there aliens?
The Bible doesn’t say. It focuses on God’s relationship with humanity and on Jesus, who came to earth to save us.
Is heaven in space?
No. Heaven is where God is fully present, not a location in our universe that a spaceship could reach.
Is space exploration against God’s will?
No. Discovering God’s creation can lead to awe and worship (Psalm 8:3–4), as long as we don’t forget the Creator.
